The number of new Corona infections in the USA continues to rise rapidly. For Monday, the public health agency CDC reported more than 440,000 new cases in one day – the highest reported daily figure since the pandemic began. However, it is likely that this figure is skewed due to the holidays, as there may have been late reports after Christmas, APA reports.
The data also varies significantly – The New York Times, for example, even reported more than 500,000 new infections in the U.S. for the day. U.S. states such as New York, New Jersey, Illinois and Maryland, as well as the capital Washington had in recent days daily record values in the Corona new infections recorded – the curve points thereby steeply, partly almost vertically upward. The Omicron variant now dominates the infection scene in the USA. Even though the CDC recently revised its estimates of the spread of the new variant downwards, its share of new infections has risen significantly since the beginning of December.
U.S. President Joe Biden most recently stated that the government should have been more concerned with obtaining tests. In many places in the U.S., there is a lack of self-testing for personal use. Those who want to use a free test offered by the authorities often have to wait in line for a very long time. Biden had promised that half a billion free Corona tests would be available as of January.
